You may post pictures to the gallery via your Web browser. Once approved, yourself and other registered users of the site can send these pictures as 'eCards'.
To add an item in the Picture Gallery database you must login. Go to the Picture Gallery page and click the Add New button, which opens the Submission Form as a pop-up window.
NOTE:
If the pop-up window doesn't open then please check your firewall settings and remove any pop-up blocking feature on this site.
The following fields are available:
Title " Enter a title for the picture. This will appear with the picture as a title and also as the picture's alternative text - displayed when a cursor is placed over the picture. If you leave it blank then the name of the picture will become the title.
Gallery Item File " Click on the Browse button to locate the picture on your hard drive that you want to add to the gallery. Select the picture you want and click the Open button.
There are limits to the size of pictures you can post to the site. Leaving Resize selected will automatically resize large pictures to the sites maximum width and height. You can also downsize the picture further by changing the maximum width and height.
NB Please see Appendix 1 for some suggestions on the size & format of pictures.
Thumbnail image " A thunmbnail is normally a small version of the picture, that when clicked will open the full sized one. If you have prepared a thumbnail image of the picture then click on the Browse button and locate it on your hard drive. Select the thumbnail you want and click the Open button.
NB If you haven't prepared a thumbnail in advance then leaving this selection ticked will cause the portal to automatically generate a thumbnail for you.
There are limits to the size of thumbnails you can post to the site. You can change make the thumbnail smaller by changing the maximum width and height.
NOTE:
For the uniformity and appearance of the website it is best practice to leave the thumbnail size to that of the site default.
Description " When someone clicks on a thumbnail they will see the full size picture along with the text and the description you add here. Click the Check Spelling button to ensure you have spelt everything correctly.
External Web Link " Enter the full website address of a web page that you want to associate with this item. Correct format - http://www.domain.co.uk. If you cannot remember the full address, then enter the domain and click on the Go button " this will open the website in a new window. Now navigate to the required page and copy and paste the address from the Address Bar into this field.
NB You don't have to add an External Web Link.
or Link to Page " Click down on the Choose Page button and select a local web page (i.e. from this website) from the list that appears by clicking on it. This will insert the link into the page.
You can click on the Go button to check that you have choosen the right page or on the Clear button to delete the link.
NB You don't have to add a Link to Page.
Click the Save for Approval button to save the item. Or click the Cancel button to cancel it.
